Breaking Barriers: OFF 2 MARS Honors Women and Girls in Science

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is celebrated on February 11th each year. This day recognizes the contributions of women in STEAM fields and promotes equal access and participation for women and girls in science. Despite their groundbreaking achievements, women remain underrepresented in many STEAM careers. This day serves as a powerful reminder that the future of innovation depends on diversity, inclusion, and breaking down barriers.
At OFF 2 MARS, our mission extends beyond streetwear. We’re building a brand that merges fashion with purpose, inspiring youth, especially young girls, to see themselves as future scientists, engineers, artists, and innovators. Our recent rebranding initiative reflects this commitment, drawing inspiration from the boldness of women in science and technology. As I continue my own journey in cybersecurity, I see firsthand the importance of representation in these spaces.
How is the day celebrated?
- Learning about the barriers women and girls face in STEAM
- Researching famous women in STEAM
- Asking girls about their interest in STEAM
- Using social media to share the day with #WomenInScience
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations Women, along with civil society partners and institutions, recognize this day to push for greater representation in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. February 11th was chosen to honor Marie Curie, a physicist and chemist who made groundbreaking contributions to nuclear physics and radioactivity.
Diversity in research brings new perspectives and creativity, helping solve global challenges like climate change and healthcare advancements. That’s why increasing women’s participation in STEAM is crucial. STEAM—science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics—is the foundation for future innovation.
At OFF 2 MARS, we believe in pushing past limits, and our upcoming Limited Edition collection is a tribute to all the women and girls in STEAM making history.
To all the young scientists, engineers, artists, and innovators out there: keep reaching for the stars. The future is yours to create. 🚀🎨🔬💡
